A Seeding Crew Built Around Valley Soil
Hydroseeding Hartford sprays new lawns, stabilizes slopes and sets up sediment controls for homeowners, builders and property managers in Hartford and the surrounding towns. Before any seed goes down, we handle the dirt work too: rough and fine grading, topsoil, and the trenching that goes with drainage fixes.
The Connecticut River valley gives us two very different soils to work with. On the river terraces the ground is often sandy outwash that the USDA describes as somewhat excessively drained, so new grass dries out fast. On the till uplands the soil is loamier and holds water, and in late winter it can carry a perched water table 18 to 30 inches down. A seeding plan that suits one of those yards can fail on the other, so we look at the soil before we write a number down.
The weather sets the calendar. Normals measured at Bradley International Airport show January highs around 36 degrees and July highs around 85, with about 47 inches of precipitation and close to 52 inches of snow in a typical year. Cool-season grasses do well here, and they establish most reliably when they go in during late summer and early fall.
How we work
- We walk the property with you before we price anything
- The estimate puts prep, topsoil, the seed blend, the mulch and any slope or sediment protection on separate lines
- Grading comes first; seed only goes on a finished, firmed surface
- We pick the seed blend for each area: sun, shade, wear, wet spots, slopes
- Slopes, swales and work near drains get the protection they need, not just seed
- Before we pull out, we leave a written sheet covering watering and the first mowing
Who calls us
Homeowners who want a new lawn after building, an addition or a septic or sewer repair. Builders and site contractors who need final stabilization so a project can close out. Property managers with a worn, patchy common area. Anyone with a bank that keeps washing onto the driveway.
We would rather tell you that a shady corner will never hold thick turf than sell you seed that thins out by next summer. Call (860) 812-7927 to set up a visit.
